about Latifa

Latifa Berry Kropf has been leading and creating sacred dance for thirty years. As a leader of her Jewish Renewal Chavurah in Charlottesville, VA she leads Shabbat, and holiday services as well as life cycle events, weaving in dance and movement.

Latifa teaches workshops around the country and has published a video and teaching manual of Jewish Sacred Dance for adults as well as two for children.

Latifa is also the author of the "It's Challah Time" series published by Kar-Ben and her new Rosh Hashanah book, "Happy Birthday World."

Latifa is eager to come to your community to lead dance programs for adults, children & families. She also would be happy to do book readings and other children's activities.

For example "It's a Challah Day" is a hands-on family program in which Latifa teaches children and their parents how to make challah. While the dough is rising the children learn a challah song and do a fun challah related craft project and of course hear Latifa read, "It's Challah Time."

Latifa has also taught adults the art of challah making. Participants go home with a fresh baked loaf of challah and information about challah from both Biblical and cultural perspectives.
